Thanksgiving week
Thanksgiving Day 2026 is Thursday, November 26. Many tasting rooms run reduced hours or close so staff can be with family. Do not assume a walk-in flight exists that afternoon. Call the estate or use the wineries list as a starting point, then confirm the holiday hours on the winery’s own site.
Friday–Saturday, November 27–28, Old Town lists Shop Small Weekend (Black Friday and Small Business Saturday) and Santa’s Arrival at Pennypickle’s Workshop Friday evening, with weekend Santa hours after that. Official: Old Town Temecula events. If relatives want a stroll, that is the civic program. If they want wine, book Friday or Sunday on a corridor away from Front Street.
Temecula Chilled and ice
Visit Temecula Valley frames winter as Temecula Chilled: Wine Country, Old Town, and Pechanga each running their own holiday programming after Thanksgiving. Use that hub for the seasonal overlay; use our events list for the dated items we have checked.
Peltzer Ice Rink is listed as closed until November 2026, with Visit Temecula Valley showing sessions from about November 19, 2026 into January 2027. Sessions are reserved, rain or shine, 21+ bar on site. That is a family block, not a substitute for a tasting reservation. If you skate and taste the same day, skate first, eat, then one estate — not the reverse.
December lights, taste, and parade
Old Town’s own 2026 calendar (stronger than a third-party roundup) currently lists:
- Dec 1–26 — A Very Temecula Christmas window walk (self-guided storefronts).
- Dec 3, 5:00–8:30 p.m. — Holiday Taste of Old Town (ticketed stroll). Tickets typically release about a month out on the same Old Town events page.
- Dec 4, 7:00 p.m. — Santa’s Electric Light Parade on Front Street (OTTA listing; some city calendars still say Dec 5 — confirm the week of).
- Dec 10–12 — A Very Temecula Christmas weekend, including a holiday boutique crawl and Cars, Cocoa & Carolers.
- Dec 12 — Santa under the Civic Center tree.
- Dec 31, 6:00–10:00 p.m. — New Year’s Eve Grape Drop at the Civic Center Quad.
Parade night is the worst night to “just swing by a tasting room in Old Town.” Front Street is the show. Book wine country itself — Rancho California or De Portola — and come into Old Town after the last float, or skip wine that evening.
Old Town Temecula Community Theater also lists A Christmas Carol, The Musical (Dec 5–13, 2026). That is a seated night. Pair it with lunch tasting, not a three-stop afternoon.
How this fits a tasting plan
Holiday weeks are reservation weeks. Estates host private dinners, clubs, and early closures. Use the wine map to cluster two nearby rooms, then protect time for lights. Sparkling and lighter reds suit heavy meals; our sparkling guide and food-and-wine day are the pairing pages, not this calendar.
For Halloween and pumpkin farms, use Halloween and fall family days. For stomps earlier in fall, stay on the grape stomp guide.
